How to get to 96 Buccleuch Street

Our flat is at 96 Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh. Buccleuch Street is in the south side of the city.

Arrival by air
Edinburgh Airport (0131 333 1000) is approximately 7/8 miles west of the city centre.
Taxis: There is almost always a good supply of white airport cabs. Ask to be dropped off on Buccleuch Street, just opposite Gifford Park. The door is between a newsagent and a hairdresser. Price approx  £13-14.
Buses: Lothian Regional Transport runs a blue and white AIR LINK bus (3.30 single/5 return) to and from the city centre, every 7 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day. It stops at Waverley Bridge, at the east end of Princes Street, by Edinburgh's main railway station (Waverley). From the bus stop, with the castle behind you, walk up the road, turn left into Princes Street and cross to the other side of the road. Bus numbers 3, 31 & 33 running east take you over the Bridges, Nicolson Street and South Clerk Street. Ask for the Odeon cinema stop, cross the road, then walk on past the Odeon and turn right into Gifford Park (a pedestrian entrance). Our flat is on Buccleuch Street immediately ahead of you.

Arrival by train
Edinburgh's main station is Waverley, located right in the centre of the city, at the south east end of Princes Street. There is always a steady stream of black cabs. Ask to be dropped off at Gifford Park; 96 Buccleuch Street is directly opposite. It takes 10-15 minutes and costs approximately £3-4.

Alternatively, buses run from Princess Street (come out of the station, turn left and then left into Princes Street and cross the road). Bus numbers 3, 31 & 33, running east take you over the Bridges, Nicolson Street and South Clerk Street. Ask for the Odeon cinema stop, cross the road, then walk on past the Odeon and turn right into Gifford Park (a pedestrian entrance). Our flat is on Buccleuch Street immediately ahead of you.

Arrival by Car
If you are approaching from the south: From the A1 (Newcastle road) follow the A1 into the city, heading for the city centre. You will find yourself on the London Road which takes you to Leith Walk. Turn right into Leith Walk and follow the road to the junction with Princes Street. Cross straight over at the junction, travelling across North Bridge (you will see the old Scotsman building on your right) and continue straight on down North Bridge, then Nicolson Street and finally South Clerk Street. Pass the Odeon cinema and the Queen's Hall on your right and take the next turning on your right, Hope Park Terrace. Turn right again at the traffic lights at the end of this short road. You are now on Hope Park Crescent which leads immediately to Buccleuch Street. Our flat is on the left, opposite Gifford Park just before the newsagent.

From the Borders A701 or A7: Join the A720 city by-pass, turning east toward the A68 junction outside Dalkeith. Take the A68 and the signs for the City Centre, heading away from Dalkeith and into the city. Continue on the A68, Dalkeith Road till you pass the Royal Commonwealth Pool on your right. Take the first left into East Preston Street, turning right at the traffic rights at the end into South Clerk Street. Take the next left at the traffic lights into Hope Park Terrace. Turn right at the traffic lights at the end of this short road. You are now on Hope Park Crescent which leads immediately to Buccleuch Street. Our flat is on the left, opposite Gifford Park just before the newsagent.

From the west and north west: From the M9 or M8 take the A8 at the Newbridge roundabout, following the signs for the City Centre. Follow the A8 (the Corstorphine Road) into the city, carrying straight on through Roseburn Terrace, West Coates and Haymarket Terrace. At the Haymarket (the junction with the Dalry Road) veer left into West Maitland Street as you head for Shandwick Place and Princes Street. At the end of Princes Street turn right on to North Bridge. Travel across North Bridge (you will see the old Scotsman building on your right) and continue across the lights on to South Bridge, which leads into Nicolson Street and finally South Clerk Street. Pass the Odeon cinema and the Queen's Hall on your right and take the next turning on your right, Hope Park Terrace. Turn right again at the traffic lights at the end of this short road. You are now on Hope Park Crescent which leads immediately to Buccleuch Street. Our flat is on the left, opposite Gifford Park just before the newsagent.

From the North: From the Forth Road Bridge, take the A90 (the Queensferry Road) straight into the city until you reach Princes Street. At the end of Princes Street turn right onto North Bridge. Travel across North Bridge (you will see the old Scotsman building on your right) and continue straight across the lights, on to South Bridge, leading into Nicolson Street and finally South Clerk Street. Pass the Odeon cinema and the Queen's Hall on your right and take the next turning on your right, Hope Park Terrace. Turn right again at the traffic lights at the end of this short road. You are now on Hope Park Crescent which lead immediately to Buccleuch Street. Our flat is on the left, opposite Gifford Park just before the newsagent.
